形态特征 Morphological Characteristics
鸡爪簕，有刺灌木，高2-5m。枝粗壮，嫩枝和叶柄密被污色短硬毛；刺粗壮，近平展。叶对生；叶柄长5-8mm；托叶阔三角形，长3-5mm，基部稍合生；叶片长圆形至长圆状卵形，长4-10cm，宽1.5-4cm，先端短尖或钝，基部阔楔形或楔形，全缘，上面无毛，下面被小柔毛或沿脉上有疏粗毛。聚伞花序顶生，稠密而多花；总花梗长不超过1cm，被毛；花大，白色，有短梗；花萼钟形，长约2.5mm，被粗毛；花冠高脚碟状，花冠筒长12-20mm，外面无毛，喉部被长柔毛，先端5裂，裂片广展；花药条状长圆形，露出。浆果近球形，直径约10mm，初时被毛，熟时无毛，先端有一落萼的环状疤痕。花期秋、冬。
The chicken claw hawthorn is a prickly shrub, 2-5m tall. The branches are stout, with young branches and petioles densely covered with dark short stiff hairs; the thorns are stout and nearly flat. The leaves are opposite; the petiole is 5-8mm long; the stipules are broadly triangular, 3-5mm long, slightly connate at the base; the leaf blade is oblong to ovate-oblong, 4-10cm long, 1.5-4cm wide, with a short-pointed or blunt apex, broadly cuneate or cuneate base, entire margin, glabrous on the upper surface, and covered with small soft hairs or sparse coarse hairs along the veins on the lower surface. The umbellate inflorescence is terminal, dense and multi-flowered; the peduncle is no more than 1cm long, hairy; the flowers are large, white, with short pedicels; the calyx is campanulate, about 2.5mm long, covered with coarse hairs; the corolla is hypocrateriform, with a corolla tube 12-20mm long, glabrous on the outside, and with long soft hairs at the throat, 5-lobed at the apex, with spreading lobes; the anthers are linear-oblong, exposed. The fruit is nearly globose, about 10mm in diameter, initially hairy, becoming glabrous when ripe, with a ring-shaped scar at the apex where the calyx has fallen off. The flowering period is in autumn and winter.
